Sorenson, Spicher lead Shorter harriers at Berry Invite

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- The Shorter University men and women's cross country teams competed in the Berry Invite hosted by cross town rival Berry College on Saturday.

On the men's side, the Hawk harriers competed with senior Daniel Sorenson leading the way.

With three runners to approach the starting line, Sorenson crossed the finish line eighth overall with a time of 26:50, followed by Cory Cown in 44th place with a time of 28:35. Evans Tanui rounded out the Hawks top three finishers with a time of 28:43 to take 48th overall.

On the women's side, Shea Spicher finishing first for Shorter and seventh overall, running the 6k course in 23:49.

With three runners to approach the starting line, junior Spicher crossed the finish line first for the Lady Hawks, followed by Hannah Turner in 42nd place with a time of 25:48. Ashley Logan rounded out Shorter's top three finishers shortly after Turner with a time of 25:54 to take 43rd overall.

The Hawks and Lady Hawks compete next on September 15 in Macon, Ga., at the Mercer Invitational.
