HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --The Lady Hawks (19-5, 9-4 GSC) did not waste any time getting after Alabama-Huntsville tonight as they defeated the Lady Chargers in three sets, while also sweeping the Lady Chargers on the season. The Lady Hawks came into tonight's game after not playing in over a week but showed no signs of having any days off; claiming the sets 28-26, 25-23, 23-22.
The match saw each set played very competitively, with no team able to extend to a large lead. The Lady Hawks were able to outhit the host Lady Chargers, .309 to .281, including a match high .484 in the second set.
The first set was tied at 24 before Shorter was able to register the final two points; a Graham kill and Loren Olive claiming her lone ace of the match.
The second set saw a Graham kill end a rally by UAH, while the Lady Chargers defense committed a few errors late in the third set to allow the Lady Hawks to come from behind to claim the victory.
Kelsey Kirk was able to match her season and career high of nine kills, while hitting .533 to set a new high.
Tanequa Whitman led Shorter with 11 digs and four service aces. The aces represented a Shorter career high for the senior from Huntsville.
