CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Lady Hawks visited Gulf South Conference rival West Georgia and beat the Wolves, 3-1.
Shorter (16-5, 7-4 GSC) was able to take the first two sets; 27-25 and 25-17, before dropping the third set. The fourth set was played closely, with no team able to pull away, before SU was able to take control and win, 25-21.
Anna Graham led the team in kills with 23 to establish a new career high, while hitting .543 for the match.
The Lady Hawks were able to chalk up a season high 70 kills in the four set victory, while also tying the team season high mark of 68 assists for the match.
Jordan Corder registered another double-double, 62 assists and 12 digs. The assist total ties her high for the season, previously done on September 29 at Christian Brothers in a five set victory.
Shorter outhit their opponent, .276 to .174, while hitting a game high .353 in the deciding fourth set.
Next for the Lady Hawks is a trip to West Alabama on October 26 at 8pm. Shorter has already beat West Alabama once this season, on September 21 in five sets, 3-2. The next time the Lady Hawks will appear at the Winthrop-King Centre will be November 8 for an 8 pm start versus Union.
