North Alabama deals Lady Hawks second loss of the season, 3-1

FLORENCE, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks (9-2, 2-2 GSC) volleyball team suffered only their second loss on the season as they fell to the Lions from North Alabama (3-8, 2-2 GSC) by a score of 3-1.

Shorter was able to seize the first set with a 25-23 decision, but North Alabama was able to rally back to take the victory by winning the next three sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-23.

For Shorter, Leslie Welch was able to amass 15 kills while hitting .308 for the match, while Anna Graham had 11 kills and hit .276. As a team, the Lady Hawks hit only .133 while commiting 28 errors.

The Lady Hawks had four players record double digit digs; Dena Pierce (14), Loren Olive (13), Tanequa Whitman (12), and Jordan Corder (11). Corder also accounted for 42 of the teams 47 assists.

Priscilla Massengale and her 17 kills and 13 digs led North Alabama. Casey Roethler (21) and Caroline Neisler (20) topped the Lions in digs, while Hope Rayburn had the match high 44 assists on the night.

The Lady Hawks finish their three game road trip of conference opponents with a 2 pm match at Christian Brothers University tomorrow afternoon.
