Shorter Tennis splits date at West Alabama, Lady Hawks win 6-3

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Shorter tennis program took a Gulf South Conference road trip on Thursday to West Alabama, with the Lady Hawks defeating the Tigers 6-3, while the Tigers beat the Hawks 5-4.

The Lady Hawks were able to lay claim to victory in the first two doubles matches, with the teams of Aurelia Gaborit/Candice Laurent and Sicquena Sinclair/Iesha Holton winning.

The Lady Hawks (4-2) were also victorious in four of the six singles matches, including the first three, with Laurent, Holton, Gaborit, and Alicia Gallard picking up the individual wins.

The Hawks (3-3) took the opening doubles match with the team of Romain Ferreira/Romain Lefevre winning 9-8. Nikola Pavlovic/Marc Guerry won in the No. 3 doubles pairing, 8-6. The Hawks would complete doubles play with a 2-1 advantage.

When singles competition began, Lefevre won his No. 1 singles match versus Honorio Fernandez, 6-3, 6-2. Pavlovic also won at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-1, defeating Adam Drysdale.

West Alabama claimed the final two singles matches to take the match, 5-4.

The Lady Hawks are back in action on February 16 as they host Clayton State, while the Hawks have to wait until February 23 when Gadsden State visits.
