FLORENCE, Ala. -– The Lady Hawks won a pair of games from the North Alabama Invitational on Friday, defeating Southwest Baptist 16-2 and Wisconsin-Parkside 6-0.

In the first game, Shorter (5-1) jumped out to a two run lead when Maddie Bray scored the first of her two runs in the second inning when Kayla Cooper got the bases loaded walk. Kendall Johnson scored later in the inning on Jackie Castaneda's hit by pitch with the bases still loaded.

Southwest Baptist scored twice in the home portion of the third to tie the game.

The Hawks erupted for nine runs in the fourth and five more in the sixth before the game was called early.

The nine run fifth saw a pair of 2-run home runs hit by the Lady Hawks, Amanda Dailey and Bray providing the power.

A trio of Lady Hawks got three hits, Cooper, Johnson, and Gracie Ayers – with Johnson scoring four times.

Bray got the start on the mound, pitching four innings and striking out a pair while allowing the two runs to score. Kayla Byrom pitched a scoreless fifth for the save.

The second game saw Kristen Little pitch a seven inning complete game while allowing just one hit and striking out 12 against Wisconsin-Parkside.

The only hit Little would give up was a one out single in the fourth, the only other base runner she allowed was in the sixth on an error.

The Lady Hawks put up three runs in the second when Sarah Corn drove in two with a double and she scored two batters later when Kendall Johnson drove her in.

Dailey added an RBI in game two in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to plate Morris.

The final runs were scored on a Bre Johnson two-run home run with two outs in the fifth.

Little capped the game by picking up three strikeouts in the final inning.

The Lady Hawks have another pair of games tomorrow, facing off against McKendree at 2 pm and Indianapolis at 4 pm.
