PENSACOLA, Fla. -- A week after suffering their first loss of the season, the Argos defended home field with a 6-0 over the Shorter Lady Hawks. The Argos had fallen from the top spot in the polls to No. 4 after losing to Armstrong Atlantic.
The action started quick, West Florida (14-1-0, 7-0-0 GSC) was able to score 31 seconds into the game when Chelsea Palmer was able to register her 10th goal on the season. Palmer would add another first half goal to help establish a 4-0 halftime lead.
Shorter (3-10-1, 2-4-1 GSC) tallied four shots in the game. Sarah Story, coming off of her third selection as the Gulf South Conference Defender of the Week, was able to make a save on Helena Farinha's shot in the 29th minute to maintain the shutout between GSC opponents.
Katie Stachula was able to add seven more saves to her season total. She now has 68 saves this year, which ranks sixth in school history for a season. She sits one save behind the fifth place mark established in 2007.
This was the final of two regular season match ups for the schools.
The Lady Hawks play next at Ben Brady Field on Saturday, October 20 as they host West Georgia with a 2 pm start time.
