Women's Lacrosse moves to 3-0 with 20-9 rout of N.C. Wesleyan
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Whitney Dixe scored six goals and Bianca Rojas added five as Shorter University's women's lacrosse team topped NCAA Division III North Carolina Wesleyan College 20-9 in Rocky Mount, N.C., on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Hawks (3-0) won their third straight game to open their inaugural season. Two of the last three victories have come on the road -- the Lady Hawks beat NCAA III Methodist 18-13 on Friday -- as Shorter gets set to open up a seven-game home stand on Saturday.
Katie Ott scored four goals and Rachel Skinner added three for the Lady Hawks, who outshot the Battling Bishops 33-18 and led 10-4 at halftime.
Dandi Ammons made seven saves on 16 shots faced and Ott paced Shorter with a pair of ground balls. Desiree Watson-Isom also scored her first two goals of the season in the win.
The Lady Hawks return to action on Saturday, March 5 when they play two games as part of the Shorter University Classic hosted by the Darlington School.
Shorter will take on Kennesaw State University in the Classic opener at 9 a.m. before playing its first-ever National Women's Lacrosse League contest against Robert Morris University at 5 p.m.
