BROUSSARD, La. -- In a field of 15 other schools, all of which are NCAA Division I schools, the Lady Hawks golf team was able to finish 14th, in a three round tournament that saw scores impacted by 25 mile per hour winds.
The Lady Hawks were able to finish the three rounds by posting the best score of event on their final trip around the course, with a 335 for the group.
Maria Bengtsson (87-79-76-242) finished in a tie for 26th to finish as the top Lady Hawk. She was able to make the needed adjustments between the rounds to fight the weather and see the scores get better each time on the course. Her final round was only four strokes off of the best round of the day; shot by eventual champion, Ghni Ngo from team champion Lamar University.
Amanda Schwartz (86-91-92-269) rounded out the team effort finishing in 78th place.
Lamar University claimed the overall title (311-312-307-930) by shooting the lowest team scores on all three rounds. Ngo (74-80-72-226) held on to a two-stroke victory after shooting the low scores for the first and third rounds.
The Lady Hawks will return to the course on March 4 from the Berry invitational from Stonebridge Golf Course.
