JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Lady Hawks will hit the road for a Gulf South Conference matchup versus Union when the two teams meet for the first time since the January 19 game that saw Karisma Boykin hit a last second 3-pointer to win the game, 64-63.
Shorter (14-10, 9-2 GSC) snapped a three game losing streak on Thursday night from the Winthrop-King Centre on senior day behind the efforts of Shelby Farrer – as she led the team in rebounds (13), steals (four), blocks (three), assists (two – tied with others), while adding 12 points in the 53-47 victory over North Alabama.
The Lady Hawks are led in points by Boykin (11.7/G) and Kristin Nash (10.7/G), while Farrer is averaging 8.0 rebounds per game. Boykin leads the team in assists (3.4/G) and steals (1.9/G).
Union (17-6, 12-3 GSC) is coming off of a 75-70 win at Alabama-Huntsville on Thursday, keeping a two game lead on the rest of the field in the GSC standings. Union's Astrid Huttemann hit a layup to put the Lady Bulldogs up for good with ten minutes to play. Huttemann's career-high 26 points led Union while she added 10 rebounds to get her second double double of the season. Amy Philamlee added 16 points, including 12-of-13 from the free throw line. LaTesa McLaughlin and Amber Rechis each added 11 points, while Paige Parker scored nine points.
