LIVINGSTON, Ala. --The Lady Hawks are on a roll, winners of five-in-a-row; with three of the last five victories coming as one-point victories. Shorter will now visit a Lady Tigers team that has lost four in a row – all of which have been against Gulf South Conference opponents.

Last Saturday's game against Alabama-Huntsville the Lady Hawks proved again they could overcome to make plays in the clutch when Ieshia Alexander made a layup to put the Lady Hawks ahead of the Lady Chargers with two seconds left to play.

Karisma Boykin and Kristin Nash are two of the Lady Hawks most consistent players, both have been essential to the offensive attack. The battle inside of the paint has been strengthened by the efforts of Shelby Farrer and Lynette Harris; they are leading the Lady Hawks in rebounds.

The defensive effort is going to be the key to victory for the Lady Hawks, the Lady Tigers have one of the top offensive attacks in the GSC and are ranked first in 3-point shooting. Leading the Lady Tigers is guard Brittany Weathers, the senior is leading the conference with 21 points a game but also collects seven rebounds a game. West Alabama is tops in the GSC in rebounding; defensively Jamie Gunter and Weathers are two strong senior team leaders and the core to the Lady Tigers squad. Weathers and Nikkia Jordan – a senior guard who is averaging 19.9 points per game – have been named GSC Players of the Week so far this season.

Shorter was able to claim the 56-53 victory from the Winthrop-King Centre court on November 29. The Lady Tigers would be held scoreless over the final 3:05, with Alexander providing the game's final points with 20 seconds remaining on another late-game layup.
