FLORENCE, Ala. - The Lady Hawks travel Thursday evening to Florence, Alabama, for their next Gulf South Conference opponent, the North Alabama Lady Lions.
The Lady Hawks are rolling after a victory over the Christian Brothers Lady Bucs, 56-43. Lynette Harris led the Lady Hawks in the second half that totaled 37 points for the team, just six points shy of amounting the Lady Bucs total game points. An impressive finish as the Lady Hawks ended a two game home stand at the Winthrop-King Centre on Saturday.
The Lady Hawks will face a North Alabama program that lost their first GSC contest in their most recent game to Union University, 54-49. The Lady Lions will be looking to strike back and are led by Mekena Randle, who leads the team in points, rebounds, and assists. Randle has been the all-around playmaker for North Alabama and is a former GSC player of the week for the week of December 4.
Union held on tight to the Lady Lions offensive attack and limited not only their shots but out rebounded North Alabama. Shorter has had the rebounding advantage over the opposition this season, maintaining a focus on grabbing the loose balls when the opportunity presents itself and limiting the second chance points will be key.
