ROME - The Shorter Lady Hawks will return to the court of the Winthrop-King Centre on Saturday as they play host to the Lady Bucs from Christian Brothers, another Gulf South Conference opponent.

The Lady Hawks staged a late rally in the home game versus Delta State, coming up a little short, 65-59. Karisma Boykin had another standout game, leading the team in points (16 – tied with Kristin Nash), rebounds (6 – tied with Shelby Farrer and Lynette Harris), and assists (4).

The Lady Hawks were able to win the turnover battle, causing 19 Lady Statesmen turnovers and converting into 17 points. Shorter also took control of the paint, winning the close range scoring battle, 30-20.

Delta State had thee players reach double digits in scoring with Rhandi Ball (17), Chelsey Rhodes (13), and Chadisty Hickman (10). Ball would record a game-high nine rebounds, while sharing the team-high in assists with Shanae Govan at four each. Seneca Walton, the leading scorer for the Lady Statesmen at 14.8 points per game, was held to only six points, but she would pull in six rebounds and block three shots.

Christian Brothers will be looking to pick up their first GSC victory of the season, two days after losing to Alabama-Huntsville on the road, 79-60. The Lady Bucs led for most of the first half after opening the game with a 17-4 run capped by a Jessica Green 3-pointer with 15:51 remaining in the half.  UAH steadily chipped away at the lead, taking a 28-27 lead on an Alysse Bishop three-point play with 6:19 remaining in the half.  The game featured nine lead changes and eight ties before UAH went on the decisive 24-5 run to seal the game.

The Lady Bucs committed a season-high 33 turnovers in the game while forcing 16, giving UAH a 33-13 edge in points off turnovers.  The Lady Bucs shot 36.8 percent (21-of-57) for the game to UAH's 33.3 percent (23-of-69).  CBU out-rebounded the Lady Chargers 46-44, but UAH grabbed 17 offensive boards to the Lady Bucs' 12.

Breanna Ridgell is the only Lady Bucs player to average double digits in scoring (16.4), with Samantha Reeves (9.8) and Candis Clear (9.3) next on the scoring chart. Green is shooting 36 percent from 3-point range, having connected on 16 so far this season. Reeves is the top rebounder, pulling in 5.5 per game; while Ty Harris (2.4) and Ashley Schaefer (2.2) are the only players to average multiple assists per game.
