ROME - The Lady Hawks near midseason and looking forward to their tussle with Gulf South Conference foe Delta State Thursday night at the Winthrop-King Centre.

The Lady Hawks and Lady Statesmen are looking to regroup after hard fought losses. The Lady Hawks met a stronger challenge from Valdosta State than they had anticipated losing 51-40. The Lady Statesmen battled North Alabama University Lady Lions until the final seconds when the Lions hit a 3-pointer as time expired, with the Lady Statesmen losing 59-58.

The Lady Hawks shoot and score 38% from the floor, 27% from behind the arc, and 64% on their free throws. The Lady Hawks average 58.5 points-per-game, Thursday night they meet a challenger averaging 72 points a game this season. Coincidentally the two schools have defenses that only give up 57.9 points per contest.

Offensively for the Lady Hawks, Karisma Boykin, Kristin Nash and Lynette Harris will need to have an impact. Boykin has hit 32% of her 3-pointers and leads the Lady Hawks with 12 points per contest. Nash has had her moments of high impact this season, ranking second on the team in both points (11.6) and assists (2.9) per game. Harris has hit 53 percent of her field goal attempts and is second on the team with 6.2 rebounds per game.

The Lady Statesmen have four players that average at least ten points per game; Seneca Walton (14.8), Chelsea Rhodes (13.5), Brooke Rhodes (10.8), and Rhandi Ball (10.2) on a team averaging just under 72 points per game. The Lady Hawks average 35.3 rebounds per game, a strong suit to Shelby Farrer's game. Farrer, a senior and local Rome native has been recognized as a team leader, she leads the squad with 8.4 rebounds per game.
