VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Lady Hawks will complete the Gulf South Conference road trip in a game versus in-state conference rival Valdosta State on Saturday at 2 pm.

Shorter is coming off of a victory at West Florida, 65-54, in which Ieshia Alexander established anew career high in points with 22. Alexander bested her prior high of 12 points in second half alone, where she scored 14.

Karisma Boykin tallied 16 points in the game, pushing her season average to 12.5 points per game, while adding eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Lynette Harris led all players with nine rebounds, while going 3-for-4 from the floor on her way to scoring six points.

Valdosta State beat Alabama-Huntsville to claim their lone GSC victory on January 3, 54-51. While VSU trailed by as much as eight points in the second half, the Lady Blazers did enough to win in the end. Trailing by three points, 49-46, with 4:27 left to play, VSU made its push. After a Derricka Griffis free throw, freshman Courtney Sprague put the Lady Blazers up one with a 3-pointer off the assist of Brooke Satterfield. It was Sprague's only three-pointer, but she led VSU in scoring for the first time with a career high 15 points.

Alabama-Huntsville answered with a lay-up with 2:06 left to play, but Brittney Nelson tied the game with a free throw, 51-51, at the 1:08 mark.

After that, it was the trademark Lady Blazer defense that forced a missed lay-up from Alysse Bishop with Kamyia Smith coming down with the rebound. Out of a timeout, Kourtnee Williams put VSU up for good with a lay-up with just 21 seconds left to play.

Williams leads the Lady Blazers in scoring with 14.4 points per game, while Nelson in averaging 14.2 to be the only players to average double digits in scoring. Nelson is also the top rebounder, pulling in 8.8 rebounds per game.
