Preview: Lady Hawks travel to Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Lady Hawks travel to Montevallo, Ala., for a 6:30 tip-off on Thursday versus the host Falcons of the University of Montevallo.

Shorter (2-2) is coming off of an overtime loss the Gulf South Conference rival West Georgia, 61-55, on Sunday. Karisma Boykin poured in 22 points, including erasing an eight-point deficit to tie the game with 57 seconds to go in regulation.

Boykin is leading the team in scoring with 14.2 points per game. In the loss, senior Shelby Farrer had 11 rebounds and three assists to lead the Lady Hawks in each category. Farrer is the top rebounder for Shorter, with 8.8 per game.

Montevallo (3-4) is coming off of the first home win this season, beating Stillman 86-48 on Saturday. The game saw Alexis Brown score 18 points, while Carolyn Tate recorded the double-double – 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Montevallo also received 11 points from both Katie Colson and Trena Moore-Smith; Moore-Smith also had the game-high seven assists. For the season, Moore-Smith is the top scorer with 8.7 points per game, while Zena Nasiloski is averaging seven rebounds a game.

Montevallo leads the all-time series 9-1, with Shorter claiming the victory in the most recent game, a 67-58 victory on November 18, 2008.
