ROME -- The Lady Hawks are set to take the floor at the Winthrop-King Centre for the first time of the 2012-2013 season. This will be only the second game of the season as the Lady Hawks take on Clark Atlanta University.
Shorter (0-1) enters Monday's matchup coming off a 74-70 loss at Columbus State on November 14. Shorter fought its way back to within three points at the 1:24 mark in the second half but time expired as Columbus State was able to just barely hang on for the win. Junior Karisma Boykin led the way for the Lady Hawks as she finished the game with 20 points to lead all players, with 17 of those coming in the second half. Shorter had three players to reach double figures in the matchup as junior transfer Lynette Harris contributed 14 points and eight rebounds, just two rebounds shy of a double-double and junior Kristin Nash added 10 points and four assists to lead all players. Senior Shelby Farrer added eight points and seven rebounds respectively.
Clark Atlanta (2-1), of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), finished the 2011-2012 season with 13 wins and returns nine of its players from last season's roster including four starters. Among those returning are the 2012 Preseason All-Conference duo of two-time All-Conference and All-Region junior point guard Conisha Hicks and All-Conference center La'Quisha Lewis. Hicks led CAU in scoring for the second consecutive year with 16.5 points per game, 3.2 assists while Lewis led the conference in rebounds with 11.1 per game and averaged 9.9 points and 3.3 blocked shots.
