Martinez, Ga.—Shorter University student-athlete David Johnson has been named the Peach Belt Conference’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson earned the honor after becoming the first PBC athlete to hit the NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump with a leap of 15.02cm (49’3.5”) at the Auburn Tiger Classic. The freshman from Charlottesville, Va. finished third overall in the event, and finished ahead of top jumpers from six Division I schools.
He becomes the first student-athlete to win back-to-back PBC Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Shorter’s track and field teams return to action April 11-13 as they travel to Knoxville, Tenn. to compete in the Sea Ray Relays.
