GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- The men's soccer program suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Carson-Newman in the Stanno Tournament hosted by Tusculum, 2-1.

For the Hawks, Robert Ochieng scored his first goal of the season in the 28th minute and was assisted by Irvin Espinal on a shot from five yards away.

The lead was short lived as the Eagles (1-2) evened the match at 1-1 in the 32nd minute when Taylor Jolley scored, where the game stayed until the 84th minute when Joao Dowsley was able to head in a shot that originally deflected off of the far post.

Espinal's assist was his second on the season; he also added a shot in the 57th minute that required the goalkeeper to make a strong save to prevent a goal.

Ryan Edwards continued his strong play in goal, making four more saves while logging the entire 90 minutes. For the season he has made 13 saves, with a save percentage of .765, and a 1.2 goals against average.

The Hawks (1-1-1) continue tournament play Sunday against host team, Tusculum, at 1 pm.
