LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- In a match up versus the second ranked team in the Gulf South Conference standings, the Hawks dropped a 2-0 decision at West Alabama.
West Alabama saw two goals scored on the home turf; Evan Beutler in the 28th minute and William Artiga in the 83rd minute, to claim victory at Tiger Stadium.
The Hawks (4-12, 3-7 GSC) were outshot by a 17-8 margin; however five of the eight shots were placed on goal forcing the Tigers goal keeper, Lavares Stone, to come up with saves on each shot attempt.
Austen Trevers got the road start for the Hawks in goal and was able to make four saves. Trevers now has 43 saves on the season, saving 67% of the shots he faces.
The Tigers were the aggressors in the second half, as they registered 12 of the 17 shots after the intermission.
The Hawks have one more match on the 2012 season, as they travel to Pensacola, Fla. on October 28 to take on West Florida, ranked No. 4 in the South Region of the NCAA regional rankings released on Wednesday.
