Young Harris, Ga.—Shorter men's lacrosse outlasted Young Harris Saturday afternoon, 15-12; extending its win streak to four games.
The Hawks improve to 6-7 on the season, while the Mountain Lions fall to 5-6.
The Hawks, who led 1-0 after the first quarter, but couldn't hold the lead as Young Harris netted four goals in the second period to take a 4-3 lead into the intermission.
Shorter scored five times in the third frame, and held the Mountain Lions to two scores to regain the advantage, 8-6. Over the final fifteen minutes, the Hawks added seven goals, while Young Harris found the back of the net six times, but Shorter had already sealed the win.
Both teams went 4-9 in man up opportunities for game. The Hawks took advantage of twenty-three Mountain Lion turnovers, and outshot the home team 48-34.
J.R. Willers played the entire game in goal for Shorter, making ten saves on twenty-two shots faced.
The Hawks will wrap up the 2013 season on April 20 as they travel to Montgomery, Ala. to face Huntingdon; game is set to begin at 2pm.
