ROME -- The Shorter men's lacrosse team looks to get back into the win column tomorrow, Friday, March 15, when it plays host to Notre Dame de Namur at 7 pm on Ben Brady Field.

Following a two-game winning streak, the Hawks (2-5) have dropped three straight games to NCAA Division II powers Lindenwood, Wheeling Jesuit and Mars Hill. Shorter fell most recently to Mars Hill on Wednesday despite leading after the first quarter and holding a 7-6 lead in the second half.

Shorter has been playing well and recognizes an opportunity to capitalize tomorrow night against Notre Dame de Namur (1-2), which hails from Belmont, Calif., and is coming off its first win of the season, a 6-5 victory over Ohio Valley. Tomorrow night marks the first meeting between the Hawks and Notre Dame de Namur.

The Hawks may be without the services of senior attackman and points leader Patrick Foy on Friday, but several other players have stepped up for head coach Jason Childs.

Most notably has been sophomore Matt Kristiansen, who, after sitting out the first two games of the season, has racked up 18 points in five games thanks to nine goals and nine assists. James VandenBrink has 15 points on 12 goals and three helpers and Kyle VanKauwenberg and Andrew King have netted 10 and nine goals, respectively.

Defensively, Michael Williams has caused a team-high 12 turnovers to go along with 22 ground balls. Freshman goalie J.R. Willers has made 88 saves in seven appearances between the pipes.

The Argonauts are paced by senior attackman Kevin Nguyen and sophomore attackman Carter Olson. NDNU have scored just 12 goals in three games so far in 2013.
