DESTIN, Fla. -- The Shorter men's golf team finished fifth overall at the Indian Bayou Classic hosted by North Alabama. Shorter finished the tournament with a two-day total of 603, which tied the Hawks with Harding and Saint Leo.
Sophomore Ethan Lambert shot 1-under for the tournament to finish in fifth place (73-70-143) one shot behind eventual champion Austin Grey from Saint Leo. Lambert rallied on the back nine to shoot a 30, when his putt just missed on 18 that would have sent him into the playoff to determine the overall champion.
Tournament host North Alabama claimed the team title (587), edging Columbus State by one stroke. Shorter started the round 16 shots behind the eventual champions, and matched them shot-for-shot in the second round to have identical rounds of 294.
Next up for the golf program is a trip to Mississippi for the BUC 11 hosted by Christian Brothers University at Tunica National Golf and Tennis Club on October 15 and 16.
