ROME – The Shorter men's golf team finished in a tie for 12th at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational hosted by Berry College at Coosa Country Club.

Coastal Georgia (578) took home the title, edging the University of the Cumberlands (579) by one stroke for the overall team title. Alastair Tidcombe (141) won on the first playoff hole to take the individual title for Cumberlands over Hunter Cornelius (Coastal Georgia) and Mac Fiely (Marian University).

The Hawks were led by freshman Juan Giraldo who finished in a tie for 24th (75-74-149), two shots ahead of teammate Jordan Bethune (73-78-151) who concluded the tournament in a tie for 36th.

Freshman Miles Mendiola (83-73-156) placed 64th in the 135-entrant field, cutting 10 strokes between rounds. Rounding out the tournament for the Hawks were sophomore Nicholas Snay (77-80-157) in 70th and sophomore Jordan Starnes (81-80-161) in 101st.

Next up for the golf program is a trip to Mississippi for the BUC 11 hosted by Christian Brothers University at Tunica National Golf and Tennis Club on October 15 and 16.
