BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Hawks improved their scoring after an opening round 311, to shoot 306 en route to at 13th place finish at the Smokey Mountain Invite. The combined rounds of 617 put Shorter in a tie with Tusculum once both rounds were concluded.
Joseph Burgess was entered individually and was the highest finisher of those not affiliated with a team with his 17th place finish 147 (75-72).
Belmont Abbey College was the overall winner with a total of 582 (290-292) to win the tournament by five strokes over Columbus State.
Adam Hedges of Belmont Abbey was the overall winner for the tournament with two rounds under par to total 138 (71-67) and finish four strokes ahead of his nearest competition in Jon Weiss from Newberry College, with his score of 142 (75-67).
