MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Shorter Hawks will look to snap a three game losing streak at Christian Brothers University. The Bucs defeated No. 7 Alabama-Huntsville from Canale Arena on Thursday, 55-48.
The Hawks picked up the 56-49 victory over CBU from the Winthrop-King Center on January 12, with four players reaching double digits in points, Anthony Banks (14), Dedric Ware (14), Walter Hill (13), and Kenny Leverette (12) with Ware leading team in rebounds (seven).
In Thursday's loss at Delta State, Banks saw his first action since mid-January and played 29 minutes in a reserve situation but still was able to score nine points.
Against UAH, CBU overcame a slow start that saw them not score until almost six minutes into the game to defeat the top team in the Gulf South Conference. The Bucs were 5-of-6 from the free throw line over the final minute to protect the victory. Drew Hildreth scored a career-high 23 points with five rebounds, knocking down five three-pointers in 37 minutes. Michael Drake scored 15 with seven rebounds and three steals, and Ryan Fleming added 11 with four rebounds and two steals.
