ROME -- The Hawks get a second opportunity to face their instate Gulf South Conference rivals - the West Georgia Wolves. Nearly two months ago the Wolves took their first GSC win of the season against the Hawks in early December from Carrollton.
The last time the two schools played, Wolves standout Quincy Hill dropped 20 points on the Hawks, and since has averaged 14 points a game. Sean Boston had 11 points versus the Hawks and is now consistently found in the GSC Top Five in rebounds.
Since the 78-63 loss at UWG, the Hawks have won their last 8 of 11, while the Wolves have lost 8 of their last 12. The Hawks will find comfort on their home court where they have won 30 of the past 31, while West Georgia is 1-7 on the road this season.
Dedric Ware has emerged as for the Hawks. Ware, a sophomore transfer from Truett-McConnell, put down 23 points in the victory over UWA on Thursday. Walter Hill added 16 points and also pulled down 13 rebounds in the road victory. The Hawks have an opportunity to exploit an advantage against the lowest ranking rebound team in the GSC Saturday afternoon.
The Wolves are the second rated 3-point defense in the GSC and will look to create turnovers. The Hawks may remember giving up some offensive opportunities in their first match versus the Wolves.
