FLORENCE, Ala. - The Hawks continue Gulf South Conference play Thursday night in what may be the toughest challenge yet. This GSC game in particular will feature two of the very best offenses in the conference. The Hawks will face a North Alabama team that is 7-1 playing at Flowers Hall and an offense that is outscoring their opponents by 13 points a game.
The Lions offense is impressive; led by Reshaun Claiborne and Bruce Adams, both average 14 points per outing. DeAndre Hersey plays physically the paint; he is the leading rebounder and also averages just below 14 points.
Coincidentally, the Hawks and Lions last losses were January 3. The Hawks lost by a single point to West Florida, and North Alabama lost to Christian Brothers Bucs - the same team Shorter defeated 56-49 last week. The Hawks have won three straight while the Lions have won two in a row.
During the victory over CBU, the Hawks offense was in sync shooting 59 percent in the second half and by going 13-14 at the free throw line, making up for the rough first half. Anthony Banks and Dedric Ware, Walter Hill, Kenny Leverette all scored in double digits.
The Hawks will draw fire against an opponent that features a high tempo offensive shooting 42 percent, luckily the Hawks shooting 46 percent and look to find their fourth consecutive GSC victory.
