VALDOSTA, Ga. – Shorter will look to snap a two game Gulf South Conference losing streak when the Hawks visit Valdosta State on Saturday for a 4 pm tip-off.
The Hawks visited West Florida on January 3 and lost y one point, 68-67, despite receiving 22 from Walter Hill. Anthony Banks (16) and Brandon Wright (11) joined Hill as the only players to reach double digits in scoring.
Banks added 14 rebounds for the game high, while also picking up four steals. He did most of his work in the second half, scoring 10 points while going 3-for-6 from the floor and 4-for-6 from the free throw line.
Hill would add 15 points after the break, connecting on a pair of 3-pointers while going 6-for-13 from the field.
Dedric Ware continues to lead the team in assists, picking up five more against West Florida, to run his season average to 6.0 assists per game.
The Blazers are coming off of a home loss against Alabama-Huntsville, 79-77. The game featured a 17-8 run by UAH in the final six minutes to overtake the Blazers.
In the game, James Anacreon scored four points – he is the leading scorer for the Blazers averaging 17.1 per game. VSU has five players averaging in double digit points per game for the season.
Josh Sparks is the top rebounder for the Blazers, averaging 9.6 rebounds per game. Anacreon is averaging 9.2, while grabbing 4.0 on the offensive glass per game.
