ROME -- The Shorter Hawks put their four-game winning streak on the line as they host new Gulf South Conference rival West Alabama to the court in the Winthrop-King Centre.

The Hawks (4-1) have continued the dominant play at home that dates back to last season, going 3-0 to start this season on the home court. In the last game, Shorter was able to blow past College of Faith 117-56, which included allowing only 18 points in the first half.

Through five games this season the Hawks have already eclipsed the 100-point threshold twice, a feat only accomplished twice all of last season, on the way to averaging 93.4 points per game.

Shorter is averaging 44 rebounds a game, with 32 on the defensive glass. The defense has been able to record 9.8 steals and blocking 2.2 shots, while only allowing the opponents to score 66.6 points per game.

West Alabama (3-2) comes into the game with the current GSC player of the week in Sandy Underwood. The junior averaged 22.3 points and 10.3 rebounds to go along with a 24-for-28 effort at the free throw line in UWA's 2-1 week. Underwood scored 24 in the 77-74 loss to Tennessee Wesleyan while playing the whole 40 minutes and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. UWA beat Barry, 71-61, with Underwood recording the double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds.  In the week's final game, Underwood was able to score a game-high 17 points in the 87-72 win over Stillman.

Shorter has four players averaging double-digit points to start the season. CJ Davis and Anthony Banks are averaging 13.8 points per game, Brandon Pullman is just behind them at 13.2, and Kenny Leverette is scoring 10.4 per game. Banks is pulling in eight rebounds and averaging one block per game. Pullman is recording 7.2 rebounds per game.

Dedric Ware is leading the team in assists (5.2) and steals (2.2) per game.
