Lakeland, Fla.--With the regular season complete, baseball shifts its focus to the NCCAA's South Region as it begins play tomorrow afternoon at 12pm in the South Region Tournament hosted by Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla. The Hawks finished the season with a 15-32 record, and are eager to turn things around.
Giving a boost to the lineup is senior center fielder Willie Lewis, who is batting .329 in limited action this season. Senior first baseman Michael Miranda is batting .295 with 4 homeruns, while freshman Walker Borneman has made an immediate impact this season batting .292 while splitting time between catching and serving as designated hitter. Both, Miranda and Borneman, have driven in 21 runs.
Senior Stuart Charleston leads the pitching staff in ERA with a 3.46, wins with 4, and strikeouts with 55.
The tournament features the South Region's top five teams; Shorter, Point, Palm Beach Atlantic, Emmanuel, and host school Southeastern. The Hawks will square off against Point in the first game of the day tomorrow, May 7, at 12:00pm; with the winner playing again at 3:00pm against Palm Beach Atlantic.
