Baseball falls to No. 21 West Florida

Pensacola, Fla.—The Hawks drop the series finale to West Florida, 6-1, Sunday afternoon.

With the loss Shorter falls to 13-30 overall, and 8-14 in the Gulf South. The Argos improve to 31-10 on the season, and 15-8 in conference play.

West Florida scored twice in the third on an RBI single from Drew Pritchard, and added a run in the fourth, to make it 3-0 game.

The Hawks avoided the shutout by scoring one run in the seventh on an RBI double from Dustin Hays. In the bottom of the inning West Florida scored three times to go up 6-1.

Bobby Parker earned the win for the Argos; pitching 6.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts. Stuart Charleston was tagged with the loss for Shorter; giving up three runs on six hits, with two strikeouts, over six innings of work.

The Hawks ended the day with five hits; Hays recorded one hit with an RBI.

Shorter will be back in action Tuesday, April 23, as they host Georgia Southwestern at the Ledbetter Complex. The game is set to begin at 2pm.
