ROME, Ga.—Baseball fell to West Alabama in the series finale, 4-2, on a rain soaked Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks fall to 12-26 on the season, and 8-11 in Gulf South play. The Tigers improve to 20-21 overall, and 13-7 in conference.
West Alabama got on the board first with one run in the third. The lead was short lived as Shorter tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double from Cal Hardie.
The Tigers added two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth to take the lead 4-1. The Hawks used a two out rally in the ninth to make it a 4-2 game; with Walker Borneman on second, Charlie Gillis delivered a single up the middle and Borneman came around to score the game's final run.
Stuart Charleston, though he recorded the loss, pitched well through eight innings; allowing four runs on eight hits, while striking out twelve.
Gillis went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI; while Michael Miranda went 2-4.
Shorter will be back in action April 17, as they travel to USC Aiken for a 4pm game.
