ROME, Ga.—Baseball fell to Stillman Tuesday afternoon, 4-3, from the Robert H. Ledbetter Complex.
The loss drops the Hawks to 12-20 on the season; while the Tigers improve to 16-13.
Stillman went ahead 2-0 in the fourth on a 2 RBI single from Nick Boggs. The Tigers added to their lead in the sixth, when two runs crossed the plate on a 2 RBI single from TJ Rock.
Shorter cut the lead in the half in the bottom of the inning, as two runs scored. Walker Borneman doubled with two outs, and came around to score when Jesse Gavigan reached on error by the centerfielder. Gavigan came around on a triple from Darrius Jennings.
The Hawks added a run in the seventh, for the 3-4 final score. Stillman recorded the first two outs of the inning on groundballs to third. Charlie Gillis delivered a single to extend the inning, and crossed the plate on an RBI double from Willie Lewis.
Gavigan and Lewis each went 2-4 with an RBI, in the game.
Joey Falletta earned the win for the Tigers; allowing two runs on six hits, with six strikeouts over 6.0 innings of work. Russell Crosby picked up the loss for the Hawks; going 5.1 innings, giving up four runs on six hits, while striking out two.
Shorter will be back in action this weekend, April 6 & 7; as they travel to Delta State for a three game series. Saturday's games are slated to begin at 4PM & 7PM; while Sunday's game is a 3PM start.
