ROME, Ga.—Tennis earned the split with North Alabama Saturday afternoon. The Lady Hawks extended their win streak to six with the 7-2 victory. While the Hawks fell to the Tigers 3-6.
The women improve to 12-5 overall, and 5-2 in the conference. The men fall to 8-8 on the season, and 1-6 in the GSC.
The Lady Hawks led 3-0 once doubles concluded, and came out on top winning four of the six singles matches. Candice Laurent (6-4, 7-6), Aurelie Gaborit (6-2, 6-1), Aurore Beltrando (7-6, 6-0), and Alicia Gallard (7-5, 6-4) each recorded wins for Shorter.
The Hawks dropped all three doubles matches to go into singles down 3-0. In singles, Shorter earned wins in three of the six matches. Romain Lefevre won 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Marc Guerry (6-3, 4-6, 6-1) and Colt Kelley (6-0, 6-2) also recorded victories for the Hawks.
Shorter will return to action, April 10, as Georgia Gwinnett visits the Walt Attaway Complex. Matches begin at 1pm.
