ROME, Ga.—Tennis split with UAH this afternoon in Gulf South Conference play from the Walt Attaway Complex. The Hawks lost, 5-4,while the Lady Hawks extended their win streak to four with the 8-1 victory.
The men fall to 8-7 on the season, and 1-5 in the conference. The women improve to 10-5 overall, and 4-2 in the GSC.
The Hawks were leading 2-1 after doubles, but couldn’t hold on for the win; as they dropped four of the six singles matches. Romain Lefevre and Romain Ferreira each received wins for Shorter. Lefevre defeated Jose Soto at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-3. Ferreira’s match with Fredrick Graanar went to three sets, with Ferriera coming out on top 7-6, 3-6, 7-5.
The Lady Hawks won all three doubles matches, and only dropped one in singles. Iesha Holton and Aurelie Gaborit each won their matches in straight set 6-0, 6-0 decisions. Holton defeated Lina Carjaval and Gaborit defeated Maria Lawton.
The Hawks will be back in action April 4, as they travel to Morehouse for an 11:00am start. The Lady Hawks, however, will wait until April 5; as they host Agnes Scott. Matches begin at 2:00pm.
