ROME, Ga.—Men’s and Women’s Tennis both earned victories Monday afternoon when Tuskegee came to the Walt Attaway Complex. The Hawks won 7-2; while the Lady Hawks won 8-1.
The wins improve the men to 8-6 on the season, while the women move to 9-5 overall.
The Hawks took all three doubles matches to take the lead 3-0 going in to singles play. In singles, Shorter won four of the six matchups to complete the 7-2 win. John Nichols earned his first singles win of the season; defeating Bobby Smith 6-3, 7-6.
The Lady Hawks also won the three doubles matches, one coming by way of forfeit. Megan Clark earned her first win of the season when she partnered with Iesha Holton for an 8-3 doubles win. Shorter earned victories in all but one singles match to overtake Tuskegee, 8-1.
Tennis will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, April 2, at home; as they play host to University of Alabama-Huntsville at 2:00PM.
